A little history background about Browns Point Lighthouse Park

The U.S. Lighthouse Service constructed the Browns Point Lighthouse in 1933 to identify a dangerous shoal and the northern entrance to Commencement Bay in Tacoma. A post lantern was used to designate it first in 1887, and a two-story wooden tower was added in 1903 to hold a brighter light and a fog warning. The Washington State Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places both list the lighthouse and keeper's home, which are at Pierce County's Browns Point Lighthouse Park close to Tacoma. For ships in south Puget Sound, the beacon and fog-signal at Browns Point continue to be helpful as navigational aids.

Browns Point Activities

The park is situated on a hill. There is some level terrain where people play football or soccer or jog around.

SWIMMING AND FISHING

It's a fantastic place for kids to run around without worrying about getting in over their heads because the southwest beach dips off rather gradually. It is advised to wear sandals or water shoes .

What if it starts to rain? Well, every other year, the fishing can be quite good. It's true what you just read. Every second year, pink salmon migrate through, turning the beach into a veritable battleground for pink-lure-slinging fishermen.

PET FRIENDLY PARK

Green area near the beach with ample space for dogs to run around. You can enjoy and play with your pets without any worries.
